To understand this project, ‘Life in the Crucible,’ you have to pay attention to the cover, the dedication, acknowledgments, author’s note, everything preceding the very first poem. The first thing it shows you is that this is not a meal made by one person. This is a collective project, a community’s story, a country’s reality. And this understanding is crucial even before you get to the poetry.”

“I hope this book will serve as a reminder that we are all searching for meaning and purpose in our lives, and that you are not alone in the struggles we face. We all struggle, albeit in different ways. I too, have loads of them. Ocean Vuong once asks, “How come depression makes me feel more alive?” To answer, “Life in the Crucible” is just one facet of the many challenges.”
