Idris Sheikh Musa’s poem ‘Wings flee; heaven eats away’ explores oppression, freedom, and the human condition, conveying a powerful message about resilience, hope, and the quest for liberty amidst adventure.
The wings flee; heaven eats away
Heaven mouth opens it mouth
For challenges to fly from bed to tent
Humming, hungry to consume the dirt’s by the birds,
For the caged bird with no wing; no cloth ——
Neck bended to ash of rights, cloth of honor whipping
To cover the leaf of maize
Which maize I nudity to eye
When no pinned to the cover,
I catch flying laws
” Fiwwwwws” In the air
Then am a bit in the air
Capturing the feather of yhe bird
Question their part,
He reply am not use I Nigeria
Residing birds in a caged bird
Mouth sealed,organs freedom nor,
Slavery seer itself into my mothers skin
Like a ray bullet resting In the soft meat of a myths.
Birds songs at unsung
A voice a loud not injecting a song
A message; buzz away by bee’s.
Let the dog live
Birds to flee not to be mouth close on sealed mouth
Their tears us already tearing the land with itd blade
Like a cut of rood
Sweats poured be for cuts.
Caged birds
Are free birds
